Lets be real here for a second, or maybe a few minuets. I don't know about you guys, but I am a sucker for a good old "whats in my bag" YouTube video or blog post (and I would like to think we all are). However, I always wonder two things after I finish watching and or reading:
1. How can they carry their bag?! it must be so darn heavy with all the amazing things they put inside of it.
2. Do they actually use all of these amazingly wonderful products and such on a daily basis? I know I certainly would not.
All jokes aside here, I realized that I am quite a minimalist when it comes to what I carry in my bags for a day to day basis. Now, packing a suitcase on the other hand is a whole other story, but I'll save that for another time. Having it be summer and all, the most common bag that I carry with me is my "beach" bag. During the summer, I usually just keep this bag in my car so I can have it whether I am going to the beach, the pool, or even just tanning at a friends house. So without further adieu, here is what I keep in my beach bag!
1. A Good Summer Read: I am not a huge reader; however, I do like to have a book with me while I am at the beach because it is a nice and relaxing thing to do. Last year I read Mindy Kaling's book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (and other concerns). I loved this book, it literally had me laughing out loud. This summer my mom suggested I read Wildflower by Drew Barrymore, which I have not gotten deep into yet, but so far I have been enjoying it. I also want to read this book of poems called Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, which I found through one of my favorite blogger's/ youtuber's HelloKaty .
2. Baseball Hat: Let's be frank here: I am a fair skinned girl. Always have been and always will be. So, a baseball hat is a 100% must. Not only are they cute and sporty but they also protect my face from the sun: a win win! Usually I just wear whatever one is hanging around my house, which is usually one by Harding Lane.
3. "Make Up" Bag: I don't really wear makeup when I go to the beach, except for maybe a tinted sunscreen on my face; however, I always carry a little make up pouch with me to hold a few miscellaneous items such as a portable speaker, headphones, and hair ties/ clips.
4. Wet Bikini Bag: For me, this is essential. During the holidays this past year I received, and gifted, a bikini bag from Bendels and I am in love with it. It has a terry cloth outside and is insulated like any traditional make up bag. I usually keep my sunscreen inside of it so that my bag does not get greasy and then also will put my bikini in there at the end of the day so it does not get the rest of my bag wet. The greatest invention ever (and its on SALE right now!!!). Destiny? I think yes.
5. Sunscreen: To some it is a no brainer, to others not so much. Sunscreen is ESSENTIAL whenever you go to the beach, on a hike, or whatever outdoor activity you will be doing. For me personally, I need a good SPF 100 to keep my pale skin from turning bright red; however, whatever works for you and your skin, as well as PROTECTS you from the sun, is essential. Think about it this way, do you want to look at your face 30 years from now and see sunspots, wrinkles, and tired skin? If the answer is no, which I hope it is, then invest in some sunscreen, it's worth it. I HIGHLY recommend investing in the skinceuticals tinted face sunscreen. It gives a little bit of coverage for your skin, protects your face from the sun, and I've also found that this sunscreen does not break me out!
6. Bikini: Obviously a bikini or swimsuit of some kind is needed when you go to a beach, so therefore it is always in my packed beach bag! I love finding new swimsuits. Some have a shoe weakness, I have a bikini weakness (and a shoe weakness probably). In my mind, you can never have to many bikinis! They are so fun to mix and match: the combinations are endless! A few of my favorites are linked below, but you can honestly find cute bikinis anywhere. One thing to keep in mind: a good bikini does not have to be super expensive.
7. Beach Flip Flops: Usually when I go to the beach I just wear flip flops, my bikini, and a cover up of some kind. I switch out the bikini and the cover up; however, I ALWAYS wear my Rainbow flip flops. Bringing sandals to the beach is cute and all, but it's really not very practical. There is no need to get your nice Sam Edelman lace up sandals all sandy and gross, throw on a pair of rainbows and your set. They are durable, comfortable, AND cute!
8. S'well Bottle: Pretty sure I have blogged about these bottles before, but they are truly amazing! I won't drone on for to long, but to sum it up on these bottles: keeps liquids FREEZING cold for 24 hours, hot for 12. Enough said. Go buy one. You can thank me later.
9. Sunnies: Can't go to the beach without a cute pair of sunnies!!! Just like I said about the bikini's, sunnies are also one of my weaknesses (honestly what isn't). I love pairing them with what bikini I am wearing and such, the options are, once again, endless! I have linked some of my favorite pairs down below, but you can really find cute sunnies anywhere!
Soak up some sun!
Xoxo,
