Blogmas 2018: Let's Talk Boots

by Sophie Langlois

Okay, I love me a good pair of ankle boots or thigh highs and this season I have been seeing a lot of them! If you are looking for a good pair of boots, I love the classic Stuart Weitzman thigh highs. I have a black pair with a slight wedged heel and I wear them all holiday season with skirts and dresses. They are a great way to elevate a look and make everything look a little bit more polished and fancy. I know Dolce Vita and Sam Edelman also come out with a series of boots each season that are very well made and reasonably priced.

For short boots, I have not found a pair I am totally obsessed with. I have an old pair of Frye boots (long since discontinued) that I have worn to death. They are super easy to just throw on with jeans or leggings and a cute sweater! With that said, I have not found a pair this season to replace my old Frye’s that probably needed to be retired last year. I have been seeing a lot of silver hardware and big zippers on the boots, which I think is really cute, but I just don’t know how much I would wear them because I wear gold jewelry all the time. Fashion gods: what do I do?!

Even more so, I have also been seeing a lot of printed booties that end just above the ankle with a small block heel. I bought two pairs from ASOS (cheeta print and blue suede) to wear as kick around shoes when I go out, and I have been loving incorporating them into my wardrobe. I have worn them with all black jean outfits, which is fun as a little pop of color, and even with formal dresses, which I thought was super fun and not to mention comfortable!

Also, slight side note, can we talk about the Doc Marten come back? I have been lusting over a pair of red sparkly ones with flames down the side (of course I love the crazy ones), but I am just not sure how much I will actually wear them! I have seen so many street style artists wearing them and I am OBSESSED. I think I have to take the plunge.

Merry merry!

I have really been loving yellow this summer! I love this dress because it is so simple, but the yellow color and the tie wrap side really amps up the game. I have seen this color a lot this summer season, especially with denim or darker navy colors, a color combo that I love. Paired with some dangly pieces of jewelry and a cute pair of sneaks, that simple dress becomes a super fun and easy summer look!

I picked up this adorable Reformation dress from the Ref store in Boston and I am in love with it! First off, the store itself was fabulous. So many great pieces and it was so nice to finally be able to try the clothing on in person rather than ordering online and returning. The dress itself is perfect for the summer because it is a light weight linen material that is super breathable. I absolutely love the cut of the dress, with its tie shoulders and ruched back panel. I love dresses like this in the summer because they are so easy to throw on with a cute pair of wedges and some gold jewelry - in about five minutes you are out the door!

Loved wearing this all white look on Nantucket a few weeks ago! There is something about wearing all white that I really love - I think it looks super classic, but also edgy and stylish. When I wear loose fitting pants like these, which by the way I LOVE, I always try to pair it with something tight on the top. I think that it helps the outfit seem more cohesive and put together, plus it makes it so that you're body has more shape and form compared to wearing loose pieces on the top and bottom!
