Prom season: the most stressful, yet exciting, few weeks of your high school career. Having one prom season under my belt, I would like to think that I have a couple pieces of advice to share with you. Prom is a time to HAVE FUN. Don't fight over who's taking who or who's wearing what. Use it as a night to dance your heart out with your best friends, dress up, wear to much makeup, and feed into that completely stereotyped, yet super fun high school experience. Prom only comes around a few times in your life, so cherish these moments.
1. Comfort, comfort, comfort
I cannot stress this one enough. WEAR SOMETHING COMFORTABLE. Don't wear 7 in high heels, no matter how cute they are, if you cant walk in them. DO NOT wear a dress you have to adjust every five seconds: I made this mistake once before and will NEVER do it again. Make sure you LOVE what you are wearing: confidence in yourself is key. You should feel beautiful on the inside and out so wear something that makes you feel like a super model. I would recommend that if you are wearing a long dress either wear sandals or comfortable wedges that have already been worn in. I wore a cute pair of 3 inch heels from BP to one of my proms and they were just the right high and still comfortable to wear all night. If you do buy new shoes, one thing to consider is how worn in they are before the big night because you never know how your feet are going to react.
2. Carry a Clutch
To both proms that I have gone to this past year I have carried some form of clutch or bag. I've found this to be super duper helpful because then I don't have to worry about forgetting anything. Carrying a clutch also prevents me from leaving important things at the prom or in the car. I am able to keep my keys and wallet on hand for afterwards as well as my lip combination that I am wearing that night. Some other things I would recommend packing would be a mophie or portable charger, gum, and (as weird as it sounds) a granola bar or snack of some kind because, if your anything like me, you'll be wanting something to eat on the bus ride home. With this packed clutch, you'll be prepared for the night no matter what!
Xoxo,
Salut Sophie
