Salut's 15 Products of 2015

by Sophie Langlois

As 2015 came to a close, I had time to look back on this past year. On top of reflecting upon my experiences, memories and accomplishments of 2015, I also looked back on some of the products and beauty essentials that I loved and used all year long. In honor of that, here are 15 of my favorite products of 2015. These products have been tested, approved and re-bought by myself, the one and only Salut Sophie, so they are definitely worth a try! Hope 2016 brings you everything and more!

Beauty:
1. Garnier Cleansing Water and Make up Remover: Beats any make up remover, from pharmacy brands to high end this make up remover leaves my skin not only make up free but also oil free as well as feeling fresh, like I just washed my face.

2. Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara: All time best mascara ever. It is reasonably priced, goes on smooth and layers really well. I can wear it day by day for just a natural look or layer a couple coats on and it looks like I have a fresh set of falsies on!

3. Dior Hydra Life BB Cream: I've tried millions of foundations and I absolutely love this one. It is smooth and has great, natural coverage. I use this with my beauty blender and it creates a flawless natural look. If you are looking for something more affordable, I also recommend the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream, which I use from time to time and like almost just as much.

4. Armani Eye liner: I use the shade #8 which is a grey black color and I love it. It is subtle, easy to use and looks stunning with my eye color. I have tried a couple of the other colors and have loved them as well. All around good product for both every day and night out!

5. Benefit Gimme Brow: Want that brow game to be on point but don't have the time to sit in front of the mirror for ages or are just straight up lazy like myself? Try the benefit gimme brow. It has completely changed the way I do my brows! So easy to use, all I have to do is run the wand through my brows two or three times and my brows are filled in and stay in place all day. Love love love this product.

Fashion:

6. Turtle Necks: I am hooked on the turtle neck trend this year. They are so comfy cozy and go with just about every outfit. They are very versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down very easily. From a t-shirt and jeans to under a dress, a turtle neck is the way to go. I have added quite a few to my closet this past year and plan to continue my collection into 2016.

7. AG High rise Jeans: As many of you know, I used to be obsessed with the Hudson Nico Mid Rise Skinny, which I still love, but I found a new pair of jeans that are even more comfortable The Ag high rise are super flattering on basically anyone (my mom and I both wear them) and have a super soft and stretchy feel to them. The high rise is nice especially when wearing a shirt that is a little more cropped then usual.

8. Circle Ray Bans: These were my go two sunnies this whole entire year. They go with pretty much everything and are a nice change from the typical aviator. I keep these in my car so I wear them just about any time I go out. They are pretty flattering on just about everyones face. Highly, highly recommend these!

9. Black Ugg's: Yes I know that Ugg's have kinda gone out of style and are now more for younger children but I just couldn't help myself this past year. I wore my black short Ugg boots all fall and winter long! I think that the traditional short style are very casual and, especially in black, not very stand outish. They are SOOO warm and super easy to just slide on before you walk out the door for school or running errands. I wouldn't say they are the most stylish but they 100% deserve to be on my best products of 2015 for their comfort and adorableness.

10. My Best Friends Sweatshirt: Now I know this may sound weird, as it is not a product you can actually by yourself, but I inherited into my wardrobe one of my best friends cozy, warn in, pull over sweatshirts. This sweatshirt is on my best products of 2015 because it is the MOST comfortable and cozy thing I have ever put on my body in my whole life. I wear it all the time, no joke, and absolutely love it. Maybe its because it came from my best friend or maybe its because of the material but this sweatshirt was one I wore a lot in 2015.

Miscellaneous:

11. S'well Bottles I am hooked on the S'well bottle craze and I have pulled in all my friends and family with me. S'well bottles are the most amazing bottles you could ever have in your whole life. Some people are very skeptical because, you know, what could be so special about a water bottle? Well, when it comes to a S'well bottle, just about everything is special. They keep drinks cold, like freezing cold, for up to 24 hours (if you leave ice in it, it will still be there in full form 24 hours from then) and drinks hot for 12. They come in a variety of different and beautiful colors as well as sizes (some are even hand painted). I linked a few from the Nordstrom site but you can also go to their site to find out more about their brand.

12. Beanies: If you know me, you know I love anything that is knit or has fur on it so it is no surprise that I latched onto the beanie trend this year, they are just so stinkin adorable! Having a bad hair day? throw on a beanie. Want that cool and casual LA look without trying? throw on a beanie. -10 degrees outside? Throw on a beanie, or two ;)

13. Marble Lap Top Case: I am in love with my new lap top case. I randomly bought it off of Amazon really late at night one evening while I was procrastinating and it was honestly one of the best purchases of the year. It is really protective, looks sleek and cool and, in my opinion, is pretty unique. Whenever I look at it, it makes me smile so hey thats a good thing!

14. Arm Candy: I was, and still am, obsessed with layering bracelets this year. From day to day I would have my basic arm candy, but when I would go out or get dressed up I loved trying on new combinations of bracelets. Some of my favorite brands for reasonably priced and good quality arm candy are Bauble Bar  and Stella and Dot

15. The Blog: Lastly, but certainly not least, would be www.salutsophie.com. I really cannot believe that it has already been a year on the blog. I couldn't have done any of this without the love and support (and open closets) of my amazing family and friends. From lending me clothing, participating in posts, giving me ideas, or pushing me to post more, my friends and family have been a huge inspiration and motivation for me. They are all truly amazing. The blog has been an incredible release for me and something that I really pride myself on. One year down and many more to go, thank you for joining me on this ride :)

Xoxo,

Salut Sophie
